<br/>The Green Chemistry division of the Chemistry Club at Texas Christian University believes in spreading the twelve principles of Green Chemistry with students, faculty, and the community. Implementing new methods regarding chemistry and chemical engineering that reduce waste and conserve energy is the goal for all of our Green Chemistry projects. We create a variety of projects that are suitable for audiences from children in elementary school to adults. A project that our chapter is particularly proud of is a redesign of high school Chemistry Lab curriculum with experiments that follow a more enviornmentally friendly pathway and a clear focus on green chemistry principles. This helped reduce the amount of chemicals used in the lab which increased safety and helped a low-income district save money. With the curriculum redesign, a cleanup and organization of their stock room was also done to ensure that it was up to state standards. Other projects that were designed for younger children are aimed to introduce the basics of green chemistry while adding an element of fun. An example was showing students how to make environmentally friendly slime. Another project geared for elementary schoolers centered around solving a mock crime scene with activities including DNA extraction, fingerprint analysis and writing with disappearing ink. These experiments utilize household items that are safe and environmentally friendly while still being a fun way for the kids to learn about science at an early age.  For our campus community we have organized educational seminars on topics including composting within our community and the chemical waste stream, as well as various social activiites to gain member and campus involvment.<br/>With these projects and \more, our chapter believes we can spread the word on why Green Chemistry is important to everyone we cn reach within our community.  Our chapter will continue to strive to uphold these principles and do the most that we can to influence others to become passionate about it. We hope to create a chain reaction that will lead to an overall envionrmentally concious world. <br/>
