Introduction:  As the incidence of stroke is increasing worldwide, the incidence of young stroke is also on the rise.  The purpose of this study is to find out the incidence of young stroke and analysis of various risk factors associated with young stroke.  Methodology: Patients who are diagnosed with stroke under the age of 45 during the period between Jan 2013 to Dec 2016 were taken for analysis. Stroke workup of all patients were done to find out the risk factors which could have contributed to their stroke. All patients underwent the intensive inpatient rehabilitation. Discharge planning was done based on the severity of the stroke and efforts taken to address the risk factors to avoid recurrent stroke.  Results:  Out of 1752 stroke patients, 260 patients (15%) falls into the young stroke category.  Among all the young stroke patients, 40% (103) patients were hypertensive, 18% (47) patients were diabetic, 11.5% (30) patients were hyper homocystenemia, 5% (13) were having heart disease (CAD, Valvular heart disease), 5% were smokers, 5.% patients were alcoholic, 7.3% (19) patients were dyslipidemia,  and 3.46% (9) had history of old stroke.  Conclusion:  Among all the risk factors, though hypertension remains the important risk factor, efforts should be taken to screen the patient who are at risk of stroke and preventive measures should be taken to in order to reduce the burden of stroke.
