The use of Fluoride Varnish containing Sodium Fluoride is a common dental treatment that is used to reverse demineralization and reverse tooth decaying process.  Previous research showed a slow alkaline digestion method was unsuccessful in releasing all the Fluoride from the varnish sample matrix for measurement of the total Fluoride . This new study demonstrates the extraction of Fluoride via a solvent extraction method to partition the Fluoride into an aqueous layer and varnish into the organic solvent layer. The separated aqueous layer is mixed with TISAB II and injected into a Flow Injection Analysis system employing an Ion-Selective Electrode as the ion detector Products containing fluorophosphates still  reuire an alkaline hydrolysis to release the fluoride prior to measurement by ISE in FIA mode.. The values found in the dental products are reported and compared to label claims.<br/>
