Background
Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM)  is known to have major psychological impact on children. Counseling and different therapies have been developed to support the patients as well as their families to deal with its effect.

Aim
We utilised the Diabetes Distress Score (DDS), an important validated tool to assess the outcomes for the intervention for the T1DM patients engaged in a novel social activity of Fashion Show. This activity is an innovative approach towards addressing the psychological aspect of T1DM.

Method
We included 46 children of T1DM of which 28 patients were more than 18 years and 18 patients were less than 18 years of age. We organized a fashion show exclusively for the T1DM patients on the eve of World Diabetes Day, on November 14, 2016. The parameters analysed were age, duration of diabetes, HbA1c. A 17 items containing DDS which was linguistically adapted and was given to the pT1DM patients well in advance as pre -event initiative and then were assessedpost event directly to the age group more than18 yrs. Parent diabetic distress scale was given to patients less than 18 yrs of age. Their happiness was assessed by Positive Psychological Assessment which is validated research tool for measuring wellbeing. Post event response was measured on its basis

Results
The total number of T1DM were 46, with their mean age was in the group of more than 18 years was 20 years (minimum 19- maximum 26 years) and in the group with the age less than 18 years the mean age was 12.6 years (minimum 8-maximum 18 years). The overall mean HbA1c was 8.5% (4.6-14.6%). Only 1 patient from each group reported with a score > 3 and all others were in the normal range. The Happiness measure scale was utilised for the assessment of the grade of happiness, which was extremely high

Discussion
Innovative and different social activities provide more delight and happiness compared to the mundane day to day routine ongoing activities. These social activities and initiatives make the T1DM feel inclusive and close and near to the normal population as insulin dependent diabetes is a not well accepted chronic illness in society. The sudden onset, young age, life long need for the insulin injection, in-curability of the disease, with the need to regulate the diet and the need for the continuous monitoring makes the management of T1DM complicated and cumbersome for the patients. The family and the society plays an essential role in adaption of this disease
