The Interactive Online Network of Inorganic Chemists (IONiC) is a vibrant community of practice dedicated to the improvement of the teaching and learning of inorganic chemistry. While the core of this community is its members, the outward face of the community is the Virtual Inorganic Pedagogical Electronic Resource (VIPEr) website (http://www.ionicviper.org). VIPEr continues to grow with over 1,400 registered faculty users worldwide and over 1000 high-quality learning objects (LOs). LOs range from single-question problem sets to fully developed laboratory exercises to literature discussions. Many of these LOs were developed at our content development summer workshops, where faculty learn about the art of teaching inorganic chemistry and collaborate to develop new LOs for use in their own courses and countless others around the globe. As the community continues to grow, new teaching resources tied to the latest research in the field will continue to be developed for the site. Our latest NSF-funded project also established VIPEr Fellows, faculty committed to incorporating student-centered pedagogies and VIPEr materials in their classrooms. As part of this project, Fellows reflect on their courses before, during, and after “VIPErization,” as well as investigate the impacts of “VIPErization” on their students. This poster will be presented by members of the IONiC community including members of the leadership council. However, this poster represents the efforts of the entire community as we continue our mission to improve teaching and learning in inorganic chemistry.
