Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a disorder of breathing during sleep, is very frequently associated with obesity. the OSA has also been implicated in many inflammatory and hormonal disturbances involving the mechanism of leptin and adiponectin. This work proposes to compare the anthropometric parameters, metabolic, inflammatory and hormonal in an obese group divided into two groups apneic and non apneic according to results of a ventilatory polygraphy. Methods: Our population consists of 105 obese who looked between October 2012 and January 2013. 45 of them have been identified at risk for OSA by berlin questionnaire and underwent a polygraph ventilator. Patients underwent anthropometric measurements and laboratory tests including dosage of adiponectin, leptin and crp hs. Results: the polygraph ventilatory identified 38 patients with OSA among the 105. The apneic group contained 45% male and 34% female subjects.In the group of apneic subjects, the mean age 48.5 ± 9 years Was. Of These patients, 16.8% had mild apnea (AHI entre five and 15), 43.2% had moderate apnea (AHI entre 15 and 30), and 40.2% had severe apnea (AHI over 30 events per sleeping hour). In the apneic and non-apneic groups the features related with the presence of OSA Were: Higher BMI (p = 0.001), higher waist circumference (p = 0.002) and A Higher neck circumference (p = 0.004). The frequency of type 2 diabetes was doubled in patients with OSA (52.6%) (p=0.004). Furthermore, we observed a negative and statistically significant correlation between adiponectin levels and AHI (r = -0.37, p = 0.02) and a statistically significant correlation between CRP-hs and severity of OSA (r = O, 35; p = 0.02). Conclusions: OSA severity was associated with blood glucose levels, CRP hs and adiponectin. Identification and understanding the mechanism and interaction of OSA with abnormal metabolic variables is important in adults. Addressing these interactions at  treatment to help to reduce the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
