In human, perspiration is essential to maintain the skin homeostasis. Sweat mainly includes certain metabolites, antibiotic peptides, and electrolytes. Sweat contribute to the regulation of body temperature, immune defense, and moisture retention. Acquired idiopathic generalized anhidrosis (AIGA) is an intractable disease, that cause the fatal heatstroke and skin dryness. Although symptoms related to AIGA apparently impairs patients’ QOLs, there are few promissing treatment strategies for AIGA. 
The etiology of AIGA remains obscure, and the therapy for the disease is not established. Thus, investigation to study underlying etiology of AIGA is urgent task. 
In this study, we evaluated genes expressed in sweat glands derived from both anhidrosis area and sweating area of AIGA, and found that sweat glands may have unexpected function. In the future, we hope that the data presented here will lead to formulate novel therapeutic strategies for abnormal sweating.
