Selective 3D patterning and attainment of microroughness on the cellulosic surfaces can lead to improved surface energy and tunable adhesion for various applications such as flexible electronics, coatings and printing. Cellulosic films were treated using laser and UV light to photopattern selective areas. Further, various patterns and degree of photoablation were controlled using special masks and levels of UV energy. Finally, 3D patterned films were flood coated using a conductive ink that allowed on demand, personalized production of electronics. Such a process as described can be employed for numerous applications.<br/>
