The diamide-diimine tetradentate ligand (dadi)n can serve in a di- or tetra-anionic capacity, and recent explorations into the chemistry of groups 4-6 will be presented. In monitoring (dadi)2-, it was shown to rearrange to a benzimidazole diamide (bida)n, an asymmetric tridentate ligand that has a basic site in addition to its redox non-innocence (RNI). Efforts to exploit the various features -- both chemical and RNI -- of these chelates will be presented along with metalation procedures, and geometric and electronic structure analyses.
