Palladium compounds of the type [PdCl(η3-Npy,Nim,O-dxk-h)]Cl and Pd2Cl3(η5-Npy,Nim,S,Npy,Nam-dxk-h) and [Pdη4-(μ-S)Nim,S,C-dxk-h]4were isolated from the facile reactions between PdCl2(CH3CN)2and dxk-h (dxk-h = di-2-heteroaromatic hydrazonic compound where x = pyridyl of thienyl) in CH3CN. Spectroscopic and X-ray crystallographic data confirmed the identities of the compounds. Electrochemical measurement in the presence and absence of a proton source revealed sequential electronic transfers and significant hydrogen evolution. The Pd-dxk-h compounds were tested toward C-C cross coupling and showed good activity for the coupling of aryl bromides and phenyl boronic acid.
