To facilitate multi-electron chemistry at first row transition metals, the development of reactive ligands that allow bond activations in a metal ligand cooperative (MLC) fashion has been an area of active investigation. While the chemistry of iron(II) complexes of tetradentate ligands capable of MLC is well studied, the chemistry of formally 14-electron square planar iron(II) complexes of tetradentate ligands remains less well-known. Here, we report a rigidly square planar iron(II) complex of a tetradentate bisphosphine-bisamide ligand (PNNP<sup>2-</sup>), characterized through single crystal X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy, demonstrate its reactivity towards E-H bonds (E = B, Si), and investigate its electrochemical properties.
