A structural study of MXene (2D Carbides and Nitrides)/Nobel metal oxide composite was performed to clarify a few interesting characteristics. MXene composite was synthesized by the hydrothermal route of using a combination of metal precursors. Then, the prepared nanocomposite was investigated by using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy for structural and morphological studies. Furthermore, thermal stability/characterization of the composite was analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). The electrocatalytic performance of the prepared catalysts (MXene composite) towards carbon dioxide (CO2) electrochemical reduction was observed. The main principle lies in applying an innovative molecular design, simple chemical synthesis and intelligent assembly using nanomaterial devices. The experimental investigation revealed that MXene catalysts were able to convert CO2 to liquid fuels. Such electrocatalytic enrichment is endorsed to the metal-oxide interface in MXene. A prototype was made to convert CO2 directly to chemicals by using the solar energy.
