Systematic approaches for tuning material properties of polymeric networks continue to pose a challenge for the polymer synthesis and engineering communities alike. This study utilizes the mindful design of <i>para</i>-substituted benzalcyanoacetate compounds to facilitate a tailored equilibrium in the catalyst-free, room-temperature dynamic thia-Michael reaction. Combining ditopic bis-benzalcyanoacetate compounds with multi-functional thiols generates dynamic, phase separated networks in bulk whose thermal, mechanical, and morphological properties are reflective of the reaction equilibrium resulting from the benzalcyanoacetate composition. These adaptable systems showcase a range of functionalities highlighted by the themoresponsive folding of a “paper” airplane and room temperature, pressure sensitive adhesive behavior.
