Motivated by student interests, the chemistry of urban lead pollution and its effects on human health has played a significant role in both the courses and laboratories I've taught and the undergraduate research program I've run. Inspired in many ways by the work of Professor Tom Wenzel the 2019 Pimentel awardee, in this talk, I will review the ways in which student-centered learning, and project-based work, on lead has unfolded in a variety of teaching and research contexts.
