Our group is performing the synthesis, isolation, and characterization of a series of transition metal chalcogenido complexes, M(E2PPh2)3 (M = V, Cr; E = S, Se) in order to complete a comparative analysis of the similarities and differences in bonding and electronic structure within the series. In order to complete this goal, all complexes were characterized by x-ray crystallography in the solid form and IR spectroscopy in the solid form. Further characterization was completed by performing UV/vis and NMR spectroscopy in the solution phase.
