This research delves into the electronic effects of the addition of Fluorine on purity and yield of CuAAC “click” reactions.These reactions are well known to be fast, simple to use, easy to purify, versatile, regiospecific, and give high product yields. We are curious to know if the highly electronegative fluorine would effect the cyclization through the inductive effect or if it would produce 1,5 isomer rather than the usual 1,4 addition isomer.<br/>Our interest in fluorinated triazole products is due to the ability to detect via <sup>19</sup>F NMR. Incorporation of fluorine into nucleotides which can then be placed into an aptamer will provide F NMR signal to study ligand binding. We predict our progress in synthesis of fluorinated triazoles and nucleotide-triazoles.
