Polymers are often used commercially and industrially to form everyday plastic products. As a result of extended utilization, these plastics are readily subjected to fractures and breakage which compromises its structural integrity and function. An application of thermal self-healing polymers to plastics offer an environmentally friendly and cost-efficient solution to this issue. Furthermore, the Diels-Alder reaction is suitable for thermal self-healing polymers due to its thermally-reversible nature. This work compares the kinetic reactivity of furan derivatives via the Diels-Alder reaction. Arrayed <sup>19</sup>F NMR spectra was taken at various temperatures in order to calculate pseudo-first order rate constant (k’) and rate constant (k) for each reaction. The most reactive dienes were determined to be furan at 298 K and 2-methylfuran at 308 K. The least reactive diene was determined to be (furanmethoxy)pentafluorobenzene at 298 K. This work demonstrates the efficiency and reactivity of selected furan derivatives for further application to polymer complexes.<br/>
