Main group metal complexes utilizing N-heterocyclic carbene ligands have received much interest in the chemical literature recently. These ligands, particularly those containing phenyl-based substituents at the nitrogens have been used to stabilize a number of structurally interesting complexes due to their steric bulk and electron donating ability. Our investigations sought to prepare Group 13 metal complexes with carbenes containing adamantyl groups at the nitrogen positions.
