1,3-Octadiene, 1,3-heptadiene and 5-methyl-1,3-hexadiene were polymerized with the system CoCl2(PiPrPh2)2-MAO obtaining stereoregular polymers having syndiotactic trans-1,2 structure. The polymers were characterized by IR, NMR (1H, 13C and 2D experiments), DSC, GPC and RX analyses. The results obtained were also useful from a mechanistic point of view, since they permitted to confirm what already reported concerning the strong influence of catalyst structure and monomer structure on chemo- and stereo-selectivity in the stereospecific polymerization of 1,3-dienes.
