Toona sinensis Roem (Meliaceae), a kind of arbor, widely distributes in China where it is commonly known as Chinese Mahogany [1]. Its leaves and young shoots have been used as an effective nutritious vegetable in Chinese society for a long time. Two new phenolic compounds, 6-(3,4-Dihydroxy-5-methyl-phenyl)-4 -methoxy-pyran-2-one (1  ), and methyl 2-(benzo[d][1,3]dioxol-6-yl)-2,3-dihydro-3- (hydroxymethyl)-7-methoxybenzofuran-5-carboxylate (2  ), together with 6 known phenolic compounds, Matairesinol, 4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzeneethanol, Syringic acid, Isoscopoletin, Aloeemodin, and  Lyoniresinol, were isolated from the roots of Toona sinensis. All separation procedure was guided by LC-DAD-MS/MS or LC-DAD-UV. Their structures were established by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis  .
