Within the last decade or so, interest in self-assembling coordination polymers as microporous materials has increased. In our previous presentations, we have showed that the ligand pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde-2'-pyridyl-hydrazone, papy, has great potential in coordination chemistry with varies metals such as cobalt and nickel. We are now in the process of using papy to make Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs), which are porous supramolecular structures that can consist of multiple metal ions bonded to ditopic ligands to give open 3D frameworks.
