To apply in the anode and anode function layer of Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), in this study we fabricated porous Ni-yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) cermets and investigated the relation between the fabrication process, microstructure, and properties. NiO and YSZ phases were detected for the sintered bodies and no other phase could be found. The porosity of each composition decreased with an increase in sintering temperature. The reduction treatment of the NiO-YSZ formed open pores due to the reduction of NiO to Ni. A homogeneous distribution of Ni and YSZ grains was found in the porous cermets. We found that the electrical conductivity of the Ni-YSZ cermets depended strongly on Ni content and density. At the same measuring temperature, the electrical conductivity increased with an increase in Ni content. In addition, a decrease in the electrical conductivity was observed with an increase in measuring temperature.
