A novel low band�gap conjugated polymer, PDTTDPP, comprising dithieno[3,2�b:2',3'�d]thiophene and diketopyrrolo[3,4�c]pyrrole was synthesized. PDTDPP showed an extended light absorption up to 1020 nm, and low�lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) level of 5.19 eV. Due to the extended aromatic nature of DTT, PDTTDPP chains exhibit high intermolecular ?�? interaction with edge�on lamellae orientation in thin film. The PDTTDPP shows an high hole mobility of 0.68 cm2�V-1�s-1 in organic field effect transistors without any post treatment. When PDTTDPP was used as an active layer material with PC71BM in organic solar cell devices, a promising power conversion efficiency of 6.05% was achieved.
