Solid dispersions of GSV at 3:1, 1:1, 1:2 and 1:9 w/w ratios were prepared using solvent evaporation technique. XRPD and DSC were used for the characterization. IR and Raman techniques are employed to study drug polymer interactions. The relative effectiveness of polymer based on their amorphous stabilization efficiency of GSV was found to be PVP K 90 > Eudragit E100 > Eudragit S100, Eudragit L100, HPMC> PEG 8000. Solid dispersion of GSV with Eudragit E 100 showed significant changes in IR and Raman spectra indicating possible interaction. Slight shifts in GSV-PVP, GSV-Eudragit S100, GSV- Eudragit L100 and GSV-HPMC were also observed but possible interaction was inconclusive based on results. GSV-PEG8000 showed no peak shift in IR and Raman spectra. No interactions and stabilization observed with physical mixtures. Drug polymer interaction was found to play an important role in stabilization of amorphous dispersions.
