Homonuclear bimetallic units (M2= Mo2, W2, Ru2) with carboxylate and carboxamidate ligands have been utilized to produce supramolecular arrangements, such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and two-dimensional coordination bimetallic dimers. We have focused our interests in the study these compounds to elucidate their physicochemical properties beyond gas sorption. The synthetic approach for these supramolecular compounds will be discussed. We have characterized our bimetallic supramolecular complexes by X-ray diffraction, IR, UV-Vis and cyclic voltammetry. We will present results that show our insight in their physical and chemical properties such as electronic communication, and paramagnetic activity and some preliminary reactivity results.
