Perovskite-type La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-d (LSCF) mixed ionic and electronic conductors were successfully prepared by colloidal chemistry approach. The LSCF cathodic-colloids were then screen-printed on the samaria doped ceria electrolyte. The cathode was then in-situly characterized by high temperature X-ray powder diffraction (HT-XRD) to study the dynamic processes. In this study, the phase transition, crystallite growth and thermal expansion were specifically investigated. As an informative complement to HT-XRD, the high temperature transmission electron microscopy (HT-TEM) was also used to effectively provide phase identification and transition measurement, suggesting that the phase transition was detected at 700 �C. The LSCF cathodes show good catalytic performances at the temperature range from 400 to 700 �C from the electrochemical impedance spectroscopic and cyclic voltammetry analyses, respectively. The mechanism study indicated that the mass transfer effect can be negligible due to the independence of the sweep rate and gas flow rates.
