Conjugated microporous polymers, CMPs, combine porosity with extended conjugation and synthetically tunable band gaps. Here we show that CMPs can be used for the photocatalytic evolution of hydrogen under visible irradiation. The quantity of hydrogen evolved is competitive with other organic materials and can be controlled by varying the optical band gap in the material.
