Lithium carbonate, as one of important Li-ion battery material, was produced by LiCl and Na2CO3 in the industrial process, and NaCl is the by product. A new flow sheet for producing Li2CO3 from LiCl and CO2 is proposed in this paper. In order to ensure the continual reaction between CO2 and LiCl to produce Li2CO3, it is necessary to remove it to another phase. Coupling the reaction process with solvent extraction is a way to lower the acidity of the aqueous solution and to allow the reaction to proceed continually. Based on this coupled process, tertiary amine is used as the extractant, 1-octanol is selected as the diluent, and the factors influencing equilibrium of the coupled process of Li2CO3 production with solvent extraction, and the particle size distribution of Li2CO3 have been studied. As a result, the particle size is distributed in the regions of 1~50 �m.
