The catalytic C�H oxidation of simple arenes is a reaction of great interest to synthetic chemists. However, current methods for this transformation are plagued by numerous challenges, including low turnover numbers and poor site-selectivity. This presentation will describe a detailed investigation of ligand-effects in the Pd�catalyzed C�H acetoxylation of arenes. A combination of oxidant and ligand has been identified that provides dramatically enhanced site-selectivity in these transformations. Details regarding the scope of this reaction as well as preliminary mechanistic insights will be presented.
