Oxides are widely used in heterogeneous catalysis either as the support or as the catalyst. The morphology and thus crystal planes exposed on oxide nanoparticles determine their surface composition and structure, and strongly affect their catalytic property. With the progress in controlled synthesis methods, it is developing as a novel stragety to optimize the catalytic property of oxide nanoparticles by controlling their morphology. In this talk, the crystal plane-dependent surface reactivity and catalytic property of oxide nanoparticles in gas/liquid-solid interfacial reactions, CO oxidation and propylene oxidation with air will be comprehensively demonstrated employing cuprous oxide nanocrystals with different morphologies.
