The study of antiaromaticity through quantitative magnetic characteristics, such as nucleus independent chemical shifts, supported by experimental 1H NMR shifts can be used to provide further information about delocalization. The placement of the benzene ring on homo-dimer dianions affects this delocalization of electrons and the antiaromaticity of the dianions. Our research was focused on the synthesis of antiaromatic dianion 2 .We will be describing the process of optimization of the synthesis of precursors for dianion 2  as shown in the scheme below.
