Lycium barbarum L. samples from different sources of origin may vary in nutritional composition and market value. The ultra-performance liquid chromatography combined with a time-of-flight mass spectrometry was applied to profile the phenolic acid and flavonoid contents in different Lycium barbarum L. samples. The principal component analysis is then applied as a multi-dimensional transformation method to project and represent the data into lower dimensions. The results indicated a trend that the samples formed clusters in the projected data. Different plantation origins affected the chromatographic profiles, and the UPLC-MS and chemometric profiling techniques may effectively discriminate the plantation origins of these samples.
