The aim of this study is to examine the influence of terrestrial nutrients on the variation of the volatile components in the Brazilian pepper leaves in six different locations around Dade County, Florida.The first part of the study involved the isolation and characterizations of the essential oils extracted from washed/unwashed leaves. Subsequently, the study encompassed the analysis of soil parameters (pH; salinity; free nitrate, ammonium, phosphate ions; carbonate and buffer capacity) to further comprehend the relation between the nature of its properties and actions. The essential oils were characterized using Infrared spectroscopy (IR), Refractive index, Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS).The chemical analysis of the samples of soil was performed using computer based acquisition tools and software: Vernier coupled to pH, salinity and temperature sensors and MicroLab Apparatus. The linear regression analysis was performed with the help of the statistical package IBM SPSS v.19 revealed that the percent compositions of each of the main components present  in the respective essential oils were affected by different variables: location, soil parameters and wash-down.
