In opposition to expectations, we have recently found that specific organic photovoltaic cells can show remarkably high and linear photocurrents under intense illumination. Some types of polymer/PC70BM cells, for example, can show a nearly linear plateau photocurrent response to ~100 suns, producing a photocurrent of ~1 Amp/cm2. The same polymer cells, glass and epoxy sealed, can show <10% degradation after 20 hours at 50 suns, at ~60 oC under normal air (Figure 1a). Sealed ammonium lead halide perovskite cell also show very high currents and remarkable stability at 50 suns. So far, the most stable are those containing TiO2 and Spiro-OMeTAD. The same perovskite cells are very unstable in the presence of humidity, even at intensities <1 sun.
