In this work we look at the potential to select genetic variants of switchgrass, a plant that has shown promise as a biofuels feedstock, for qualities that are more favorable to thermochemical processing and catalytic upgrading. Using rapid, micro-scale characterization of pyrolysis products, we seek to identify controllable parameters of feedstock production � both genetic and environmental � that will lead to greater ease of processing, improved liquid & carbon yields, and lower input requirements.
