The Saint Louis University (SLU) ACS Student Chapter strongly believes in promoting chemistry at Saint Louis University and throughout the Saint Louis area. The Chemistry Club accomplishes this through giving students a well-rounded experience of chemistry. Not only does the Club focus on wet chemistry through opportunities to be a �demo captain� and perform experiments in front of fellow students, but the SLU Chemistry Club also promotes the importance of chemistry outside of the lab. Monthly general body meetings are held and social events are planned to encourage fellowship among the members and provide an environment for students with similar interests to have fun while at the same time discuss chemistry and further their own knowledge. Members are also provided with opportunities to participate in chemistry related service projects, such as aiding Boy Scouts in receiving chemistry merit badges. This year, the SLU Chemistry Club has taken the initiative to educate the youth of the Saint Louis area by offering classes at the Youth Learning Center on a series of chemistry topics. The members of the Club are also provided chances to learn through touring labs and listening to speakers from various fields of chemistry.
