Roger Williams University student affiliates participated in a number of activities this year in order to better inform the local community of chemistry and to promote undergraduate research. A pizza night was held on Mole Day in order to bring together prospective chemistry majors and minors, along with those interested in chemical research. Chemistry was brought to the Roger Williams student body through Roger After Dark, an event consisting of several chemical demonstrations and activities that raised awareness and interest in green chemistry. Furthermore, several speakers were hosted on campus to speak about current chemical topics. The student affiliates also played a role in the local community by acting as judges at Mt. Hope High School's annual science fair and by performing several chemical demonstrations. Affiliates were also engaged in Rhode Island local section activities, such as the November meeting at the Rhode Island School of Design. In addition, student researchers presented at the Undergraduate Symposium on Sustainability and the Environment at Bridgewater State University in order to foster a greater understanding of the sciences.
