Despite being at a very large university, the ACS student chapter at Penn State University has had a small active membership over the past several years. This year we have attempted to increase membership and participation by incorporation of events in new areas. We already have many successful science outreach activities, so our specific target areas of growth were professional development, social events and local section interactions. This new focus will help members become more connected with the chemistry faculty, ACS members and each other. We also hope that by implementing a wider variety of activities, we will attract students of different interests and therefore more members.
