The efficient and rapid derivatization of organic molecules into an array of related analogs is highly desirable in chemical industries. Therefore, there is a need for mild and cost-effective reactions to convert an easily accessible functional group into a wide range of substituents. Recently, we disclosed a procedure for copper-mediated fluorination of aryltrifluoroborates using potassium fluoride. We have further shown that by changing the nucleophile, a wide variety of products can be formed under very mild reaction conditions. Here, we report the copper-mediated conversion of aryltrifluoroborates, including heteroaryltrifluoroborates, into a diverse array of functionalized products.
