Two new phosphine-oxide-based, trifunctionalized monomers, namely a triamine and a trianhydride were synthesized via a four-step route and a five-step route, respectively. Two series of crosslinked CP2 polyimide films were prepared from 2,2-bis(phthalic anhydride)-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropane (6FDA), 1,3-bis(3-aminophenoxy)benzene (APB) and the triamine (or trianhydride). Herein, nonstoichiometric amounts of 6FDA and APB were polymerized in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) to afford poly(amic acid) oligomers (PAA oligomers) with terminal amine or anhydride groups. Subsequently, 1-5mol% of the trianhydride or triamine crosslinker was added to the solution of PAA oligomers. The resulting PAA sol-gel precursor was poured onto glass slides and cured in an oven at 300 C to allow for both crosslinking and imidization to occur. All the polymers displayed high thermo-oxidative and thermal stabilities (>400 �C in both air and nitrogen) and high Tgs (>200�C). All the polyimide films showed almost 100% shape recoveries after over repeated stretching (20x). WAXD results indicated that all the polyimides were amorphous.Figure 1.
