New conductive block copolymers were synthesized by atom-transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The block copolymers were designed to have pyrene moieties for good electron conductivity and ethylene glycol moieties for electrolyte uptake. The copolymers were used as conductive binders in silicon anode for lithium ion battery. The segregated blocks maintain the dimensional integrity for the electrode during  electrochemical cycling which leads to the good performance of the battery.
