Steam reforming of ethanol over Co-based catalysts has been studied extensively in recent years.  Catalytic performance has been shown to be affected by the support material, catalyst preparation techniques, cobalt precursors used in the synthesis, and the size and morphology of the ceria support. Recent work has focused on the oxidation/reduction behavior of both the support and the metal for Co catalysts supported on nano-ceria.  In addition to the catalytic performance studies characterization results acquired using DRIFTS, XANES, EXAFS and temperature-programmed techniques will be presented.
