Enhanced separation efficiency and speed of analysis has been goals that our group continues to pursue.  Enhanced �fluidity liquids are solvents that provide the fast mass transfer rates of supercritical fluids with the solvent strengths of commonly used liquids.  These solvents are effective in increasing the speed of analysis and efficiency of separations for all types of liquid chromatographic methods.  Substantial improvements in separation selectivity and speed of analysis for highly polar biological based analytes were recently illustrated by the group. Other significant accomplishments of the group include defining new planar chromatographic methods using nanofiber based technology.  The efficiency of these methods rival those of capillary electrophoresis for many compounds. Recent work that illustrates the improvements in mass spectral ionization efficacy for organic and biological polymers provides unique detection capabilities which could be combined with these new highly efficient separations as well.
