We report a new mixed Ln-MOF Eu0.5Tb1.5-FDA ([Eu0.5Tb1.5(FDA)3]; H2FDA = 2,5-Furandicarboxylic acid), which has high-sensitivity luminescent sensing for the mixtures of glycol and 1,4-dioxane, and can work in a large volume ratio (f) range from 0 to 1. The volume ratio f in Eu0.5Tb1.5-FDA is well correlated to the emission intensity ratio of the 5D4?7F5 (Tb3+) to 5D0?7F2 (Eu3+) transition (ITb/IEu, IN), which does not require any additional calibration of luminescent intensity. Such a mixed Ln-MOF monitor is not only more reliable but also exhibits higher sensitivity than its corresponding pure Ln-MOF Eu-FDA or Tb-FDA based on the single transition of 5D4?7F5 (Tb3+) or 5D0?7F2 (Eu3+), and gives fast response and variable luminescent colors visible to the naked eyes, which is a promising monitor the condensation reaction process of glycol into 1,4-dioxane.
