Alkyl O-phosphates, -nitrates, and -carboxylates are abundant in biologically active compounds, pharmaceuticals, and natural products and often serve as ideal leaving groups in a number of important transformations. Attempts to access these synthetically relevant connnectivities via transition metal catalysis have been limited, likely due to the relative inertness of these oxygen anions towards reductive elimination. We demonstrate that highly selective C(sp3)-O bond formation can be achieved with fundamentally poor oxygen nucleophiles from synthesized PdIV complexes. This poster will discuss the synthesis and characterization of these PdIV complexes and their reactivity towards C(sp3)-O reductive elimination in detail.
