Emulsion templating can be used for the creation of macro pores within a bulk of monolithic material if the precursor or dissolved material is included in the continuous phase and the droplets are not miscible with the continuous phase. This approach has been widely used for the preparation of porous polymers and numerous examples are described (see for example I. Pulko et al. Macromol. Rapid Commun. 2012, 33, 1731). In this presentation, the use of emulsion templating approach for the preparation od macroporous ceramics and some polymer hybrid materials will be discussed.
