The intramolecular Diels-Alder (IMDA) reaction is a highly attractive method to synthesize complex, polycyclic products from a linear precursor. We have developed a diastereodivergent IMDA-3-exo-tet domino cascade reaction that rapidly generates complex polycyclic products. The scope of this new methodology has been investigated to generate tricyclic products with up to five contiguous stereocentres from linear precursors.
