The 2-aminochromene compounds are widely employed as pigments, cosmetics, potential agrochemicals, and represent an important class of chemical entities comprising the main constituents of many natural products. Thus, the synthesis of 2-aminochromenes is of much importance to organic chemists. In this contribution, a simple and rapid one-step continuous-flow protocol in a ThalesNano H-Cube ProTM has been developed for the preparation of chromene derivatives. This arises from the one-step reaction of aromatic aldehydes, a-cyanomethylene compounds and naphthol. The faster residence times (< 2 min) coupled with elevated pressure (~25 bar) results in an efficient, safer, faster and modular reaction. Results obtained illustrate this base catalyzed reaction affords the respective chromene derivative products in very high yields. Workup of the synthesized products by crystallization results in a further purified product.
