Since many industrial catalytic processes are performed at temperatures above 300 oC, thermally stable catalysts are highly desired. Colloidal nanoparticles which were synthesized in the presence of organic surfactants are subject to the deformation and aggregation during high-temperature catalytic reactions. Hence, core@shell-typed metal nanoparticles with a mesoprous silica shell have been designed by maintaining their core structures. In the metal@oxide core@shell structures, the synergistic effects of oxide-metal interfaces may be maximized catalytic activity and selectivity due to their unique interactions. In this study, Pt nanoparticles were deposited into the inner pores of oxide supports to investigate the metal-support interaction in catalytic reforming reaction. The supported Pt catalysts were also compared with core@shell-typed catalysts in high temperatures. Catalytic activity and selectivity as well as thermal stability were evaluated for determining the best catalyst in high temperature reforming reactions.
