A tremendous amount of work has been devoted to the development of synthetic strategies that lead to the formation of metallated nucleosides.  The driving force behind this intense research effort is the bioactivity exhibited by the resulting derivatives.  This presentation will focus on the circumvention of common synthetic challenges encountered when developing new approaches to the synthesis of metallated nucleosides.
